Habitat Award

What is a habitat?

Tell us about your backyard or your local park.  What makes it a 'habitat'?  What makes it different to inside your house?  Tell us about the animals that live in the habitat, or just visit.  Tell us about the trees and the ground, and everything in between.

You can show us what you see using words or art, its up to you!

Super Habitat Award

First, you need to choose three species from Our Animals page, one from Our Mammals, one from Our Birds, and one from Our Reptiles.
When you have your chosen animals, learn about their habitat.
What part of their habitat do they rely on?  Who else lives in their habitat?  Why is their habitat important, and what would happen to the animals if the habitat were gone?

Draw a detailed picture of the habitats you have learned about and the other animals that live there.

Super Dooper Habitat Award

Choose two habitats from the following list:
- Kakadu National Park (desert)
- Australian Wetlands
- Daintree Rainforest
- Tasmanian Forests
- Victorian Alpine Region

Tell us all about these habitats.
Tell us all about the different plants and animals that live there.  How do they rely on each other?  Tell us about the endangered animals that live in these habitats.  How can we make sure these endangered animals won't go extinct? Do humans live in these habitats?  Would you live there?  Why/Why not? Why are these habitats important to Australia?

You can tell us this information however you like - be creative!  Maybe you are a fabulous artist, and painting is the best way to send your message, or perhaps you love computers and decide to make a presentation on Powerpoint or Keynote.  Maybe making a diorama out of a shoebox is what you choose.  Surprise us!
Congratulations, you're a hero!  When you have finished an award, click here!
