Did you know that you can search for the animals, birds, insects and frogs that you can expect to find in your area. Go to the Atlas of Living Australia where there is an interactive record of everything that is known about biodiversity you could find.

Have you ever wondered what type of bird just landed in your tree? The Birdlife Australia website is where you go to search different bird species and find out all about them.

Birds in Backyards is a great website which helps you identify local birds and to give you information about how you can attract different birds into your backyard.

Do you like frogs? You can get involved in the annual Frog Census run by Melbourne Water by taking recordings, finding out about frog calls so that you can identify what you hear, and contributing to the annual frog count around Melbourne. Visit the Frog Census website to get the details and get started.

If you are wanting to get involved in different aspects of the natural world, the Field Naturalists Club of Victoria have many interesting groups and activities in areas of fauna, flora, marine, fungi, insects, geology and microscopic topics. Check out the calendar of events to get you started.

Have you been to any of Melbourne's three zoos lately? Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range Zoo or Healesville Sanctuary are all creating amazing change in the way they are using the public to spread the word of conservation and education. Read about the Wildlife Conservation Master Plan to see what they are up to.  Did you know about their projects to save 20 local species from extinction? Find out which of the Threatened Species you know about and see if you can help contribute to their survival.

Museum Victoria is a great place to visit online for resources into many collections gathered over many years. The Bug Site is a great interactive tool to find out all about the living creatures that outnumber the human race!
