Volunteer Opportunities

Wild Days Wildlife Shelter receives no government funding and is operated entirely by dedicated volunteers.
As Wild Days is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, we are always in need of extra hands.

Volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation shelter is rewarding and provides an incredible opportunity to observe wildlife, learn about them, their antics and behaviours, and watch them heal.  Being part of their release back to the wild, back to their families and their homes is the ultimate reward.

Is volunteering at Wild Days right for me?
Volunteering at Wild Days also involves physical and messy activities and may not suit everyone.
The animals we care for are wild and must remain that way to be successfully released. Humans are their natural predators so there will be minimal contact with the animals. If you are wanting to volunteer somewhere with a lot of animal handling, then volunteering with companion animals rather than wildlife may be for you.

Wild Days training of new volunteers takes time and as such, usually no recruiting will take place during busy times.
By completing the Volunteer Application you will be placed on a list and notified when the next volunteer intake is being undertaken.  Thre is a minimum commitment of 3 months to allow for training.
