The Wild Days’ Team is very dynamic. With the help of her daughters, Hayley and Jacqueline, Kay Taranto runs the shelter with the help of a number of people who help make the shelter possible.
We currently have Lisa P who is currently in training as a foster carer, learning the complexities of caring for wildlife.
Shelter helper Sharon is often out collecting browse and is a great help around the shelter, and Jenny A is our pouchmaker/pouch designer. We also have volunteers Yvonne, Peta, Cassie and Cindy who help on a regular basis, Tracey, Lisa D, Rosemary, Jeni B, and Ross who help out on an irregular basis and have been doing so for some time, and many others who volunteer when the shelter calls for help, in cases of emergency such as a heatwave event, which saw over a hundred animals arrive at Wild Days over a couple of days.
Our volunteers help by carrying out the many duties around the shelter, cleaning, feeding, mulching, collecting the daily browse, collecting newspapers, pouch making, fundraising and animal transport.
We also have Junior helpers Timmi, Elizabeth and Caitlyn who actively spread the word around their schools and teach their friends about caring for the natural world around them. These helpers are learning how special the animals are and are able to assist in many appropriate ways around the shelter.

The shelter is also reliant on donations of goods and funds to continue its work.
Our regular and one off donors are valued members of our team, as the cost of specialized formulas, medications, heating costs, cleaning and laundering items and many other expenses, are ever increasing with the increasing number of animals in care. Finally, our team includes every person who takes the time to stop and help an animal in need, instead of passing by. Whether it is calling for help or rescuing the animal and taking it with you to find help, you are all heroes. Those people have the privilege of seeing our native wildlife close up, they get to see how amazing they are than then share their experiences with the people around them. This is the way a community is created where people care and respect the native wildlife they live with. |
Vets lending a handMany of the animals that need care at Wild Days, have first been seen by the vets and vet staff of the clinics who support Wild Days Wildlife Shelter.
We thank the local clinics who donate their time to our wildlife:On behalf of the animals, thank you! |
